Open Sway in "Play" mode rather than in the Storyline
Why does my presentation open in the work-space with "card" open and not in the final presentation?
From the My Sways page, you can now open a Sway in “play” mode by clicking on the “…” and then on the play button. Thanks for the suggestion!
So i found a way to have Sway open in Play mode.
1. Open the Sway in Play mode and copy the URL out of the address bar.
2. Remove the r in front if play in the URL.
Should be ?play
3. Paste the new link into whatever form you are using.
Opening Sway in Play mode is very easy. When you copy the link over it gives you ?ref=link at the end. Replace this with ?play
When the user clicks the link, it opens your sway in play mode.
Has anyone from Microsft solved this problem yet? It is incredibky useless and renders the programme useless.. I have wasted time and effort and credibilty persuading colleagues to use this only to find that you cant do this simple task!
I don't want to see a storyline/editing mode when they open a presentation. plz help me
FINALLY found a way to open in automatic play rather than storyline. At the homepage, choose your Sway, hit the ...in the right corner, hit play, then copy the hyperlink in the search bar, then paste that address (the end of the address should say ?play). It worked for me- when the link is clicked from an e-mail, the Sway starts to automatically play.
This is unacceptable. I have spent all weekend preparing a presentation to send to a customer and now it won't play! Customers don't want to see a storyline/editing mode when they open a presentation.
I'm very disappointed with office365.
Last week I spent a whole morning preparing a emailshot on the new business centre only to find it would not let me edit the contact list so I couldn't send the mailshot!
I think I will have to cancel my office365 subscription and try google doc!
and another one bites the dust- spent time making it assuming that if I could get people over the fact that they had to click a link in an email then they would be rewarded with a beautiful sway- but no- it sadly shows the working background- not the play mode.

This is a great product, but I am unable to send this link to people via email. And have them open it in Play Mode only? Also there is no help section I can read through to any of these questions via Sway Office 365.

Is there any plans to fix this behavior? The tool would be incredibly useful if this behavior was corrected. Otherwise, I find it utterly useless. If you are not going to make it so that the URL opens in play mode automatically, just trash it. That is how important it is.
I think you failed to understand the request: the idea is to have the sway open automatically in Play mode when you pass the URL along to someone else — not to make it simpler for the sway's author to open it in play mode from the My Sways page.
I share the frustration of Anonymous. Built a single-page web site that linked to the sway as a workaround for the first problem (i). Gave up and moved to Adobe because of (ii).
Important if you want to share your Sways with people. Without it, you always have to tell them to 'Hit the Play button on the upper right of the banner menu'. It flabbergasts me that the Sway team hasn't fixed either of two simple things for making it useful to send Sways: (i) simple names (URLs) that people could actually be expected to type into their browser, (ii) an option to have the Sway open in View mode.
